I know that there are very expensive shoes on the market. I also know that there are reasonably affordable shoes on the market and beyond that there are discount shoe warehouses, and even Wal-Mart. But before you think it is alright to walk out of the house in shoes that you stepped in shit in a week ago, washed at home, which stained them and then wore them to the beach before they were perfectly dry which means there is sand stuck to and in them, out of the house. Think again. Do you really want people to see your feet in such a state?
Let’s not forget that while a photo may tell a thousand words, your choice of footwear can tell 10,000 and affect your chances of getting laid. Gentlemen, come on! How can you really think its alright to wear those shoes? I was sitting on the tube in London the other day when I looked at this girls sitting across from me. She was pretty, in great shape, revealing top and she had pretty awesome bone structure. So for all intents and purposes she is what one would call hot. Then I gave her the once over and shock to the system it ended right there. On her little lady feet, where suede, mint green with a rhinestone puma panther leaping along the side. I should actually say, were once mint green and were now much more a shade of mud?
I then looked along the row of tourists and commuter and noticed that many of them were the proud owners of questionable footwear. Smudged, trashed, beaten up and ugly. No matter how much gaffer’s tape, glue, or paint they used the ugly leather underneath was peeking out and their feet just looked tired. I suddenly wanted to ask everyone why?
Why? Well I think for women there should be no excuse to have ugly shoes or ugly feet. For men there is a choice and it’s easiest to agree that the answer is easy. There is no need to go out and purchase a pair of Church’s or a pair of Prada loafers. You could easily find your way to a Converse or Vans store. You could easily find you’re a number of discount shopping emporiums the point being to find yourself in some location where the footwear is new and you can read the price tag without a gasp. Then you make a purchase and walk out as the proud owner of shoes that won’t scare the dogs in the neighborhood. This is such a simple upgrade and such a statement to make. Although if I could caution one more piece of advice, stay away from Steve Madden. There are many far more attractive cheap to mid price footwear options. So invest some dollars in a new pair of shoes and walk with a chipper step. At least for the sake of those around you.
